  • New Web Site Creates Greater Awareness of HIM


    AHIMA has launched a new Web site to help individuals understand and manage their personal health information. As a component of the Association's image marketing program, http://www.myPHR.com is the next step in creating a broader awareness of the HIM profession. The Web site includes:

  • A listing of common information and reports contained in a health record
  • Information on how a health record is used to ensure quality healthcare
  • Explanation of health information privacy rights
  • Information on how to maintain, access, amend, transfer, and obtain copies of a health record
  • Downloadable personal health record forms
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Links to helpful consumer sites


  • Consumers are a powerful voice in influencing healthcare industry legislation and business practices and, therefore, can be strong allies and advocates for the HIM profession.
